When you arrive at Lesja and take the road up into the mountains, an incredible landscape is revealed. A deep and broad U-shaped valley, on the watershed between east and west Norway, large lakes, walking trails and towering mountaintops. It’s a paradise for hikers, horse riders, anglers and hunters. Sjongsvannet lake is 860 meters above sea level, right on the tree line.
Sjongsvangen, which was once a mountain farm, now offers spacious log-cabin accommodation that sleep 2, 4 or 7 guests. It is run by Torkjell Hagestande.
Sjongsvangen is open from about the beginning of June until the end of October, when the road is closed, but in the winter holidays and at Easter we offer snowmobile transportation.
Small-game hunting (with or without dogs) and reindeer hunting, in one of Norway’s most beautiful mountain ranges.
There’s also a guided wild-reindeer hunt.
